The Texas State Data Center will host the Annual State Data Center/Business and Industry Data Center in Austin on May 22-23. The meeting will include data workshops and presentations directed at engaging and informing Texas data users. More detailed information will be available on the Texas State Data Center website soon.

How Immigration Works for America.
Federal Reserve Bank Economist Pia Orrenius  presented "From Brawn to Brains: How Immigration Works for America" at our November meeting.  See Previous Presentations for copies of her slides and research report.

Ahead of the Curve.
Our September Symposium: "The Cure for What Ails Us? The Impact of Healthcare reform on Houston and Texas" was likely one of the first to explore the implications of healthcare reform on a local area. In addition to many of our members, over 50 guests from a range of health related industries attended our event at Rice University's BioScience Research Collaborative in the Texas Medical Center. Presentations from this event can be downloaded here. 

Greater Houston Partnership Helps Promote
the American Community Survey

In a video posted on the Census Bureau's website, TEDA member Patrick Jankowski discusses the ways in which the Greater Houston Partnership uses the ACS. Great job Patrick and GHP!

H-GAC Provides Census 2010
Summary File 1 Data for Houston Area 

On August 11, 2011 the Census Bureau released the 2010 Census Summary File (SF-1) for Texas. The data on the demographic composition of population, households, and families is organized into 275 tables with a combined total of 7,993 variables. H-GAC has downloaded and processed the data, and is making it available to the data users in the region. The data for 32 most widely used tables for different geographies (blocks, census tracts, zip codes, etc.) in the 13-county H-GAC region has been posted here.

  • To enhance the caliber of economic and demographic research, analysis, and discussion in the Houston region by providing continuing education and useful information to its members through meetings, a newsletter, and other means.
